To say that I’m bullish on the prospects of Apple’s new App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch is putting it mildly. That said, there are plenty of apps out there that either border on useless or seem to redefine wacky. Or both.
Here are some of the latest:
Wooo Button
Picture this: A blank gray screen with a giant button that reads “Wooo!” in the middle. You click the button and it says “Wooo!” That is the entire app. The description reads: “This one won’t get old. I promise.” You should probably take their word for it.

SpeedBox
Using the iPhone 3G’s GPS chip, it tells you how fast you are going in MPH or KM/H. I guess this might be cool if you’re on a boat or train, but if you’re in a car, hopefully you have one of these nifty devices in your dashboard already.

LOLCats
I have no doubt that this will actually be a popular app. It searches Flickr for images tagged with LOLCAT or LOLCATS and puts them on your screen. I’d prefer one for LOLICAHN.

Birth Buddy
You can now use your iPhone or iPod Touch to help you give birth. A stop watch function records the time between labor contractions. Now, I’m not a woman, but this strikes me as a tad bit odd. And why is this not called the obvious iBirth?

Knock on Wood
The description says it’s a “genuine picture of wood.” Oh that’s rich…rich mahogany (see the video below). You tap it to bring you good luck.
