CES: A demo of the Palm Pre phone, the best gadget of the show

Palm had an exclusive suite at the International Consumer Electronics Show, where it unveiled its new Palm Pre smartphone with its new Palm Web OS operating system. Here’s the beginning of a video of a demo of the phone’s basic design by its Palm product manager. He talks about how Palm’s Synergy technology integrates contacts across a bunch of address books, like Outlook or Facebook. One cool thing is that it imports pictures of your friends from Facebook and their phone numbers from Outlook and then presents them to you as a single contact with both the picture and phone numbers. It might seem a bit much to post a four-part video on a single smartphone from CES. But I consider this product to be the best new gadget at the show.

Here is part three of the Palm Pre smartphone demo. In this segment, the discussion involves calendar, email integration, web browsing and messaging applications. The cool feature here is that you can carry on a conversation with the same person across apps like text messaging, instant messenger or email.
