Summer overheating iPads — There’s been a wave of iPads overheating as temperatures rise across the U.S., but Apple doesn’t see it as enough of a problem to address or recall existing units. iPads can detect when they’re overheating and will display a warning message.

Zynga loses 10 percent of users — The social gaming company that brought you Farmville has lost 10 percent of its users since Facebook changed its notifications and requests policies. Business Insider takes a closer look.

Firefox gets browser sync — Mozilla’s Weave add-on is finally an official part of Firefox, and it’s name has been changed to Firefox Sync to reflect its ability to sync bookmarks, preferences, browser history and passwords between different consumers.

Clearwire expands 4G — Together, Sprint and Clearwire have deployed their WiMAX service in new coverage areas in Kansas and Washington, D.C. This is the first of other major expansions in ten other states in the U.S.

Google nailed for click fraud — The search giant is being sued by a locksmith in Seattle for charging him for clicks made fraudulently by a competing service. The suit is important because Google hasn’t faced this kind of problem for more than 5 years.

The state of mobile apps — NielsenWire published a study today looking at what types of mobile applications are the most popular, which handsets most are played on, and which users are the most interested in which categories of apps. See a summary of the report here.

Facebook “Like” buttons breaking down — Apparently, many sites across the web are running into the same problem with embedded Facbook “Like” buttons. When pushed, they are directing users to an error page stating that the URL cannot be found.

Giiv gets $3.35M from Google CEO Schmidt, et al. — Eric Schmidt has teamed up with the Founder Collective, among others, to provide a $3.35 million first round of funding to Giiv, a startup that allows you to text gift certificate codes to your friends for use at major online and offline retailers.

Cisco’s plan to smarten up the grid — Greentech Media has an excellent video interview with Sanket Amberkar, the manager of Smart Grid marketing at Cisco Systems, about where the networking giant plans to go in the burgeoning market.
