TeamSnap catches $700k for sports team management

TeamSnap, a website that lets you manage sports teams and other groups, today announced it has secured a first round of funding for $700,000. The investment will be used to expand features and the services reach, which already is used by customers in over 90 countries.

TeamSnap allows coaches or leaders to manage their teams or groups through individual tools, like a scheduler, roster (see below) and message forum for free. Those willing to pay an annual subscription of about $55 for the basic package also get email reminders, player availability, photos and a payment tracker. A premium package includes weather tracking, player statistics, and a customizable website for $79 a year per team.

If you’re wondering why type of teams or groups can use the service, the sky is the limit. The company spotlights everything from soccer to Wife Carrying, a sport that where men carry women around an obstacle course (we don’t judge).

Several competitors are already playing in the space, including professional athlete-backed WePlay and RosterBot.

The Colorado-based company was founded in 2007. The funding was lead by eonBusiness as well as several other angel investors who were not disclosed.
