Love it or hate it, Christmas time affects all forms of entertainment…including video games. From subtle references like a hidden, red stocking, to whole levels decorated with multi-colored lights and dancing elves, one can feel the influence of the holiday season in titles from every genre.

I went on a magical Internet adventure looking for 10 Christmas references in gaming, but I easily found 21. I'm sure I still missed some titles with holiday-related content, so feel free to share your findings in the comments section.

Weirdest trumpet I've ever seen.

Valve brings holiday cheer to Team Fortress 2 by celebrating Australian Christmas, adding new maps and items such as red mittens, icicle knives, and gift-wrapped baseball bats.

He's a mean one.

An enemy from Two Crude Dudes wears a purple Santa Claus suit and carries a bag full of bombs. This green-skinned troll just ruined Christmas. Wait…could he be the Grinch in disguise?

Fighting off gay rumors...in style.

Dressing up your hero/villain in Fable 3 is fun…especially when you have fuzzy Santa hats as downloadable content.

I can't breath in this costume, guys. Guys?

Your sackboy will always look fashionable at Christmas festivities thanks to the wide selection of downloadable costumes in Little Big Planet 2.

Time for Santa's dirt nap.

In Hitman: Blood Money, Agent 47 has to assassinate a drunk in a Santa Claus suit and use the disguise to infiltrate a Christmas party where his real target is. The mission is appropriately titled "You better watch out."

Needs more honeycomb ornaments.

Banjo-Kazooie's Freezeezy Peak is one giant, holiday-themed level full of snowmen, enormous Christmas trees, and family-sized presents.

The Rocketeer's part-time job.

One of the crazed earthlings in the original ToeJam & Earl is Papá Noel in a jet pack. The game's developers probably thought the idea of traveling in a flying sled pulled by magical quadruped mammals was ridiculous.

Aya looks like a ho, ho, ho.

The 3rd Birthday takes place on Christmas Eve, so a sexy Santa outfit for Aya Brea is very (tight) fitting.

The bigger the hands, the bigger the presents?

The Christmas equivalent in World of Warcraft is the Feast of Winter Veil, an end-of-the-year tradition where the citizens of Azeroth trade gifts, sing, dance, and get wasted on Greatfather Winter’s ale.

Bad Santa.

Rudy, the red-nosed Santa from Bully, likes to decorate his toilet with sparkly garbage. He can have my trash, but I'm not sitting on his lap.

You can stand under my umbrella. (ella, ella)

You can catch Saint Nick walking around the city of Yokosuka in Shenmue during the winter. I'm not sure what the deal with the umbrella is, though.

Follow Rudolph's glowing nose to page two for more Christmas fun.

It's daaaah most wonderful time of the year.

Rabbids don't comprehend the concept of Christmas, but that doesn't stop them from trying to join the celebration. Check out two cute holiday videos from Raving Rabbids: Travel in Time here and here.

You don't want to shake Santa's hand.

A man with a cold in a Father Christmas suit is handing out tissues to people in the middle of the street while Jingle Bells plays in the background. Don't get too close to him…he could be a Snatcher.

ToeJam has his eyes on Earl's sack.

I don't remember if there was a Christmas-themed stage in ToeJam & Earl 3: Mission to Earth, but I found this funky, promotional image of ToeJam, Latisha, and Earl in Santa hats.

I would trade Santa for Lola every time, and maybe Pinbot.

In Taxi, the 1988 pinball machine, your goal was to pick up five, unique passengers: Marylin Lola, Gorbie, Pinbot, Drac, and Santa. You can check Taxi out in Pinball Hall of Fame: The Williams Collection.

I wonder if Bad Mr. Frosty is anatomically correct.

The original ClayFighter featured Bad Mr. Frosty as the main character, but one Christmasy brawler wasn't enough. ClayFighter 63 1/3 introduced Sumo Santa. Wow…just look at him.

I really hope the giant dude is wearing underwear.

Final Fantasy 14 received terribly low review scores, but at least the downloadable Christmas costumes and accessories are awesome. Chocobos look really cute with antlers. Aww.

Why does the elf smell like urine?

The Totally Scrooged level from Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko featured Christmas ornaments, skiing elves, and a huge snowman with the message "Santa bites" written in yellow snow. Lovely.

I have a feeling Jingle's bag is full of crystal meth.

You can only find Animal Crossing's Jingle on December 24. The mysterious reindeer comes to town to give presents during Toy Day. Hoarders have a scant, few hours to acquire items from his charming collection.

Why is Rudolph's nose red? Because it's bloody.

On your way through the Ice Country in Secret of Mana, you'll meet a familiar-looking reindeer and learn that a Frost Gigas kidnapped his master. The giant was actually a cursed Santa Claus. Congratulations! You saved Christmas!

That gargoyle has "naughty" written all over it.

In the pit stage from the first Mortal Kombat, you'll notice several figures flying by the moon including Peter Pan, a witch, a rocket, a UFO, and even Santa Claus in his sled. I applaud Midway's fighting franchise for never taking itself too seriously.
