verizon-guyVerizon Wireless is currently experiencing its third data outage for the month of December, undermining the company’s sterling reputation for reliability.

Verizon last had a major outage on Dec. 21, and like that time, customers are taking to Twitter and other social networks to vent their frustrations. Subscribers have been complaining about the outage for several hours and directing their anger at the Verizon Wireless support account. Some users are even suggesting that they plan to leave over the persistent outages.

“I think I’m gonna leave @VerizonWireless … because all this data outage is just irritating and uncalled for,” Indianapolis, Ind.-based Verizon customer Quentin Dock said via Twitter.

Verizon had another outage on Dec. 8, and another back in April. Network outages are a fact of life for every cell tower network, but Verizon is known for for its reliability when it comes to voice and data connections.

Verizon’s official statement on the matter, issued to several outlets, says:

“We are investigating reports of some customers experiencing trouble accessing the 4G LTE network. The network itself continues to operate and all customers continue to be able to make calls, send text messages and utilize data services. 3G devices are operating normally.”
