Is this the iPhone 5? Leaked next-gen iPhone parts get assembled

The photo shown above could give us a glimpse of what the next generation of Apple’s iPhone looks like.

Japanese repair shop site iLab Factory has obtained and assembled a collection of parts purportedly used in the iPhone 5. The photos (see gallery below) show that the iPhone could have a slightly darker metal frame with a flattened edges. The speaker and microphone screens on either end of the current iPhone 4S’ bottom have been replaced with a set of speaker grooves. The dock connector is also smaller, which lines up with previous reports that Apple will be switching to a new micro doc.

Also, the back of the assembled device parts photo indicates that the next iPhone will shed its glass panel in favor of a metal one. Yet, there is what looks like a small glass piece at the very top and bottom.

We don’t know if these parts are actually intended for use in the next iPhone. But considering some of the more subtle changes, it wouldn’t surprise me.
