Can you feel the Cosmos? It’s about to expand into a new webcomic on ShiftyLook.
Namco Bandai started giving retro video game characters their own webcomics earlier this year when the website launched, and the stars of the Katamari series join them this Monday. Alex Culang and Raynato Castro, the creators of the webcomic Buttersafe, write and illustrate the adventures of the Prince, the King of All Cosmos, and their friends. New updates appear on Mondays and Wednesdays at 5 a.m. Pacific following the premiere.
“Katamari holds a very special place in the lore of Namco Bandai,” said Rob Pereyda, the producer and editor-in-chief of ShiftyLook, in a statement. “As such, it was important to find a creative team who could truly capture the unique nature of the series that has touched the hearts of so many around the world. We believe that Buttersafe’s Alex Culang and Raynato Castro are just the folks to undertake such a project.”
The two will participate in related events and debut an exclusive Katamari T-shirt at the ShiftyLook Freeplay Arcade during New York Comic-Con this Oct. 11-14. Scheduled events include the ShiftyLook Meet & Greet, a Katamari panel, an autograph session, an exclusive poster giveaway, and more.
The first Katamari game released for the PlayStation 2 in 2004, and the most recent, Touch My Katamari, came out for PlayStation Vita in February.
ShiftyLook features other webcomics with popular and classic characters, such as Bravoman, Dragon Spirit, Rocket Fox, Dig Dug, Sky Kid, and others.
