Twitter’s Biz Stone teams up with Ron Howard for a movie inspired by your tweets (video)

Twitter‘s cofounder Biz Stone, @Biz, has asked millions of Twitter users to submit their photos, which he’ll use to inspire a short film that he’ll direct under the tutelage of Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard.

“It’s about having a feedback loop between me and Twitter users,” he said. I caught up with Stone today in San Francisco’s Embarcadero district, where he sits in front of a laptop “favoriting” the stream of photos tweeted with the hashtag #InspireBiz.

Today, the project comes to a close, and celebrity judges Eva Longoria and Jamie Foxx will help Stone select finalists, along with Georgina Chapman, fashion designer and cofounder of Marchesa; and James Murphy, founder of LCD Soundsystem. “I don’t have a screenplay in my head I’m planning on telling. I’m going to wait until I see the photos,” said Stone, who told me he’ll be involved with every aspect of the film from the casting to the editing. The entrepreneur was invited by Canon to lead the initiative they call “Project Imaginat10n.”

“I can be as involved as I want, and I want to be very involved,” he said. In the one-on-one with VentureBeat (see the full interview below), Stone admitted he’s a “little nervous” about making his directorial debut, but he draws a comparison to starting a company. “You have to be willing to fail and you have to be emotionally invested in what you’re doing,” he said.

“If you’re not loving it, why would you work 15 hours on a set? That time has to go by like its 15 minutes,” Stone explained.
