Boxee is betting the company on the Boxee TV, and it hopes to generate meaningful revenue from its cloud DVR service because the hardware itself won’t be profitable. The DVR service will cost users $15 per month.

New York City-based Boxee was founded in 2007 and has raised $26.5 million from investors including Union Square Ventures, General Catalyst Partners, SoftBank Capital, Pitango Venture Capital, and Spark Capital.
