Game community site Raptr and video service Twitch are teaming up to integrate livestreaming features into Raptr’s desktop app. This will enable gamers to stream games directly to Twitch from the same software many are already using to track their playing habits.
The feature should go live this spring.
“Raptr is always looking for new ways to connect gamers on more intimate levels,” Raptr chief executive Dennis Fong told GamesBeat. “Twitch’s live broadcasting services provide compelling ways to share their gaming experience.”
Twitch will show up as an easy-to-use widget in the Raptr PC program. Gamers can start broadcasting from within the app and then share the video link to their friends on Facebook, Twitter, and Raptr.
“At Twitch, our goal is to be everywhere gamers are, so partnering with Raptr is a great way to expand our community of live broadcasters,” Twitch vice president of marketing Matthew DiPietro said. “Given the direction the gaming industry is heading with top hardware and software publishers alike embracing the live streaming movement, it is one more milestone to have an industry leader like Raptr help move the needle to where playing a game and streaming one becomes synonymous.”
