iTunes-Radio Twitter station

One thing we overlooked during Apple’s iTunes Radio announcement was the inclusion of a Twitter #music trending station on the new service.

Apple actually plugged the new station in the company’s promotional artwork that shows off iTunes Radio on the iPhone. As you can see in the image above, In the center of a row of featured stations is the “#music” station with the familiar blue Twitter bird logo, which was first spotted by Musically’s Stuart Dredge.

Twitter #music launched back in April as a way for the social network to identify songs that were trending among users who wanted to share what they were listening to. The service itself is a music discovery platform at heart, which uses tweets and user activity to surface new artists that are gaining in popularity. While Twitter #music’s iOS app has failed to gain attention from the majority of users, it’s possible that the iTunes Radio interest could change that.
