Some players take their hobby very seriously. That doesn’t just mean spending tons of time hopping and jumping in triple-A titles — it also means they invest a lot of money to make sure they have the best experience possible while playing.
That’s the crowd that game hardware and accessory company Razer tries to serve, and it’s targeting the hardcore fighting-game community with its latest product: the Atrox arcade fighting-game arcade stick.
Razer will begin taking preorders for this new Xbox 360-only controller on May 21 at $200. Razer will ship the stick to customers in Japan later this month. Worldwide consumers won’t get it until June.
For the Atrox, Razer worked closely with pro players to help construct the best controller possible. The result, Razer claims, is an arcade stick with 10 highly responsive buttons and a precision eight-way joystick that won’t fall apart under heavy use. On top of that, you can pop open the Atrox for easy modding.
“Following a huge beta testing program, we’re confident that we’ve built an arcade stick enthusiasts will love,” Razer chief executive officer Min-Liang Tan said in a statement. “We know that the fighting-game community is huge on modding their arcade sticks, and that is why we made the Razer Atrox extremely mod friendly. We are excited to see what extreme mods the Razer Atrox will be the base for.”
