Twisted Metal and God of War creator David Jaffe has signed on as a creative adviser for independent game developer Pixelbionic’s first project, a vehicular combat title called Autoduel.
Autoduel is an online PC game focused on team-based battles. It will feature over 20 unique cars that players can upgrade, three factions, and a variety of maps. Pixelbionic claims that Autoduel is an homage to car-combat games of the past such as Interstate ’76 and Jaffe’s own Twisted Metal series, a genre the studio says is “ignored by publishers.”
“I was super excited when I heard Pixelbionic’s vision for Autoduel,” said Jaffe. “As a huge fan of the genre, I’m really looking forward to contributing to the game’s vision and design goals.”
Pixelbionic co-founder and president Mike Arkin says that his studio’s mission is to assemble a team of car-combat visionaries and deliver a game that fans will not only want to play but help create. The developer plans to reveal even more core members of its team in the near future as well as launch a Kickstarter campaign.
