Social media management utility HootSuite added the most popular online survey tool, SurveyMonkey, to its app directory today, along with real-time visual traffic analysis tool Chartbeat.
And, almost as an aside, the company stated that it has now passed seven million users.
Two months ago, CEO Ryan Holmes told me HootSuite had six million users and was on the same growth curve as Evernote and Zendesk had been earlier in their growth cycle. Adding another million users in just two months means that HootSuite is keeping the pedal to the metal. And, while I can’t mention the name yet, the company just recently landed a major international corporation with 17,000 global locations.

The new integrations mean that all those HootSuite users can now analyze data from their brand’s social media account right next to data from surveys they’ve published around the web. SurveyMonkey CEO Dave Goldberg said the combination will allow social managers to make better data-informed decisions as well as further engage their users.
In addition, Chartbeat — which we use here at VentureBeat — displays real-time traffic data visually for quick decisions about what to feature and what to drop. HootSuite says that will help users decide which content to share to social networks for social amplification.
HootSuite’s app directory, which has been in existence since December 2011, has seen significant growth in the past year, the company said. The company integrated Instagram and SlideShare last summer, and now boasts 55 apps for services like Yammer, Tumblr, Evernote, YouTube, MailChimp, and more. Installs are up 554 percent in the past 12 months, and the most popular apps have been installed over 100,000 times each.
Perhaps one of the lesser-known but bigger stories today is another new integration: ContentGems.
Social media managers are always looking for new, interesting, cool things to share with their Twitter and Facebook audiences, and ContentGems is a service that scours 200,000+ news sources and blogs for interesting information, then filters it according to your custom filters. The result is a steady stream of relevant shareable content for your audience, something that most HootSuite users would find tremendously useful.
“Social media is an arms race and [ContentGems is] an arms dealer,” Jason Calacanis said about the service.
All the new integrations are immediately available.
