Irrational Games is still working on BioShock Infinite’s long-anticipated story-based expansions, but that’s not stopping it from releasing some minor downloadable content for its anachronistic first-person shooter.
Today, the developer is offering a $5 DLC pack called Columbia’s Finest on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. This small add-on gives players extra in-game items including lockpicks, unique gear, and extra cash. It also enables players to slightly upgrade their weapons.
This content isn’t part of the $20 BioShock Infinite season pass. That will still give players access to the story expansion whenever Irrational finally gets around to releasing that DLC, but those fans will still have to drop the $5 to purchase Columbia’s Finest.
Following the release of this new DLC, BioShock Infinite creator Ken Levine took to Twitter to update fans on the status of the story expansion:
DLC Update: We are working on it- have been since the game shipped. Things are going well, but plz understand: game development takes time.

Irrational isn’t new to delayed development. BioShock Infinite took the studio nearly five years to complete.
