Here’s how carriers around the world stack up in mobile revenue

Telecom giant AT&T just inched ahead of global powerhouse Vodafone (Africa/Europe/Australia) in mobile revenue.

According to research firm GSMA Intelligence, China Mobile still holds the top position, both in terms of customers and revenue, on the firm’s scoreboard. China is the largest market for mobile carriers on the scoreboard.

But right behind China Mobile in revenue is AT&T, followed by Vodafone, Telefonica (Europe/South America), and NTT Docomo (Japan).

Notably on the rise were Orange Group (France), China Unicom, and China Telecom. The latter two had double-digit revenue growth between 2012 and 2013.

Interestingly, Sprint was one of only three carriers to show a decline year over year. However, the coming Sprint/Softbank merger will likely change those fortunes for the better.
