Without question, tech is one of the hottest industries right now for young folks and ambitious job-seekers. But when you don’t start out on the inside, how do you scale the walls of the tech community?

Learn-to-code company Treehouse has just launched a new course called Career Foundations. Its focus is teaching you how to get a job in the technology industry.

“We’re excited to launch Careers Foundations as a complement to the many coding and design courses we offer at Treehouse,” said CEO and founder Ryan Carson in an email.

“Our students need to learn new skills, but at the same time, understanding how to improve their career prospects and skills as a professional will set them up for success at whatever job they find. We want our students to know we care about their long-term goals in this industry, as the newest professionals of today will be teaching the next generation in the years to come.”

The company also recently launched a whole course on how to build a startup (you know, for the less employable types). But honestly, the company thinks that programmers at startups — even non-founding code monkeys — should have an idea of how a business works. This basic understanding makes them more well rounded and allows them to make better contributions to the whole organization, likely increasing said organization’s overall chance of success.

The job guide, on the other hand, focuses on more than just startups and appeals to the more employable among us — those who actually enjoy working for The Man.

Career Foundations is taught by Dan Gorgone and Pasan Premaratne, who will explain how they got their own tech careers started and teach students how to do a self-assessment, how to network, how to create and maintain a personal brand, and how to actually find a job and do a good interview.

It’s good stuff for devs, designers, and entrepreneurs; for startup folks and enterprise folks and everyone in between.

And when you’re finally job-search ready, Treehouse also has a job board to help you find a perfect fit. See what they did there?
