Brace yourselves PC players, the Mac and Linux crowd are heading to Dota 2.
Valve has officially released Dota 2 on Mac and Linux. This comes a week after the developer released the game on PC. Prior to this, Dota 2 was in a widely accessible beta on all three platforms.
The company provided the minimum requirements players need to pick up the game on Linux or Mac:
Mac:
Mac OS X Lion 10.7
4GB RAM
8GB Hard drive space
Nvidia 320M or higher, AMD Radeon 7000 or higher, or Intel HD 3000 or higher
Linux:
Ubuntu 12.04
Dual core from Intel or AMD at 2.8 GHz
4GB RAM
8GB Hard Drive Space
Nvidia GeForce 8600/9600GT, AMD Radeaon HD 2600/3600
OpenAL Compatible Sound Card
The Mac and Linux releases also accompany a game update that improves a number of Dota 2’s features. The studio added new chat features to the UI, new animations to the visuals, and new rules to multiplayer matchmaking. Valve also made some tweaks to a number of characters to help balance out gameplay.
Dota 2 is available now as a free download through Valve’s Steam digital-distribution service.
