Madden and FIFA fans probably won’t wait for the next-gen consoles to pick up their favorite professional football game. Madden NFL 25 launches Aug. 27 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and FIFA 14 debuts Sept. 24 on the same consoles and PC. Meanwhile, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems still don’t have a solid release date.
For those dedicated Madden and FIFA players, Electronic Arts is offering an incentive to encourage them to move on to the next-gen games once they do decide to upgrade their consoles with a special incentive program for Madden Ultimate Team and FIFA Ultimate Team.
Gamers that own Madden NFL 25 or FIFA 14 on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 can transfer up to 1,100 Ultimate Team items to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Players just need to log into the games with their Origin accounts on Xbox Live or PlayStation Network on the current and next-gen systems. The transaction will only work from Xbox 360 to Xbox One and PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4.
Ultimate Team is a special mode in which you can collect cards that represent football and soccer players, playbooks, and coaches in a deck. Gamers can purchase booster decks to improve their Ultimate Team and can face off against other players. Ultimate Team often requires a deep commitment of time and money.
Many games under the EA Sports brand feature this mode, and its players are dedicated. It’s likely that many wouldn’t make the switch to next-gen sports games if their items didn’t transfer.
