Samsung’s next Galaxy Note to be unveiled Sept. 4 in Berlin

Samsung will announce its next Galaxy Note smartphone on Sept. 4 at the IFA trade show in Berlin, according to an invite sent to press today.

The phone will likely be called the Galaxy Note 3 and will follow up the successful Galaxy Note 2. Samsung used IFA in Berlin last year to debut the Note 2, so this looks like a straightforward announcement.

Samsung sets apart the Note series of phones by offering larger screens than the Galaxy S series and usage of the S-Pen stylus on the screen. The Note 2 has a huge 5.5-inch screen that makes it more of a “phablet” than a phone. The Note 3, however, is rumored to have an even more crazy 6.3-inch screen.

The last major Samsung phone launch was for the Galaxy S 4 in New York City. That event was strange and poorly scripted, but we couldn’t help but keep watching. Still, the S 4 has sold more than 10 million units around the world since its debut.
