The puckish rogues over at developer Volition can crack open a tall can of Saints Flow, because its latest release is a big hit. Publisher Deep Silver — a subsidiary of European conglomerate Koch Media — revealed today that Saints Row IV has already sold more than one million copies in its first week of sales.

“We are incredibly happy of the reception for Saints Row IV as a critical and now a commercial success,” Koch Media chief executive Klemens Kundratitz said in a statement. “The development team at Volition is second-to-none as a driving creative force in the entertainment industry, and we are very proud to have them as part of the Deep Silver family.”

The publisher claims that Saints Row IV on PC is outpacing the sales of Saints Row: The Third on PC by a 3-to-1 margin.

Saints Row IV tells the story of the leader of the Saints gang who is also the President of the United States. As the president, players must defeat an invading army of aliens and help humanity escape from a Matrix-like prison. It’s absurd, hilarious, and surprisingly touching. The open-world super-powered crime game scored a 90 in its GamesBeat review.

Volition is currently working on downloadable content for Saints Row IV. The studio released two content add-ons today. The Presidential Pack features gives players access to costumes and masks for Abraham Lincoln, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and George Washington. The Grass Roots Pack gives players a double-barreled shotgun, an assault rifle, and the Plunger Launcher, which fires the plumbing tool as a projectile. It also comes with country-style outfits.

Both pieces of DLC are available now for PC and PlayStation Network and tomorrow for Xbox Live for $3.
