Developer BioWare Austin is updating Star Wars: The Old Republic with new player-versus-player content.

The studio announced today that it plans to add 4-on-4 PVP Warzone Arenas to the massively multiplayer online role-playing game. BioWare plans to include the new content in the upcoming 2.4 update, The Dread War, which it scheduled for release Oct. 1. Both subscribing members and free-to-play users will get the update at no additional cost.

“We are constantly looking to improve the gameplay experience in Star Wars: The Old Republic, finding fresh new ways for players to try it out while offering new, higher-level content to our existing community,” BioWare Austin general manager Jeff Hickman said in a statement.

As part of an effort to make the game attractive, BioWare is also offering the title’s first expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, for free to new or rejoining subscribers.

Update 2.4: The Dread War takes players on a journey to Oricon to unravel the mystery of the Dread Masters. It will offer players two new Level 55 Operations. The studio also updated the client so that new players can start playing while it is still downloading. BioWare plans to stream content at 6:30 p.m. Pacific on Twitch:

Going forward, the development team plans to launch new updates every eight weeks.
