Developer and publisher CCP Games has announced the next expansion for Eve Online, its space-themed massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Titled Rubicon, the new wave of content will mark Eve Online’s 20th free expansion since the game’s launch in 2003.

Along with the usual ship and combat balances, Rubicon adds new story content focusing on the open defiance of Eve’s immortal pilots against the galaxy’s empires.

“The pilots of EVE have grown bold, defying the empires that once created them,” states the expansion’s official site. “Is it dissent? Subversion? Or is it the beginning of a new age, where the immortal elite of a universe take their first steps toward truly claiming the heavens as their own?”

This means that players can gain control over the taxing of resources harvested from planets (Eve’s economy makes up a large part of the game). A new line of ships from the Sisters of Eve will also provide for stealthier travel across hostile space.

CCP Games has set Eve Online: Rubicon for a Nov. 19 release.
