At the New York Comic-con show, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment announced Batman: Arkham Origins for iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, and Android devices.
That means mobile devices are becoming more of a standard platform when it comes to launches of major video game brands. Warner Bros. Interactive is aggressively moving into new channels with its established franchises.
Arkham Origins will be available as a free download on iOS, with the Android version coming out later during the holidays. NetherRealm Studios is making the free-to-play release that features brutal combat as the Dark Knight squares off against Gotham City’s deadliest assassins.
NetherRealm previously made mobile editions of Injustice: Gods Among Us and Batman: Arkham City Lockdown. Warner Bros. Games Montreal will develop the console version of Arkham Origins, and it will be available worldwide on Oct. 25 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Windows PC. As gamers progress in the experience, they can upgrade their character and unlock unique Batsuits, and they can earn in-game currency and rewards.
