Spider-Man, Deadpool, and the X-Men can all defeat world-threatening villains. But even superheroes can’t overcome lawyers.
Several of Activision’s games based on Marvel properties are no longer available on Steam, Xbox Live, or PlayStation Network (as first spotted by members of gaming message-board NeoGAF). The publisher had to remove the games from those digital-distribution services due to its contract with Marvel ending as 2014 began, according to Activision community manager Dan Amrich.
In the final days of 2013 (and the contract), Activision held a sale on the Marvel games to squeeze a few more dollars out of Spidey and the mutants. Here is the full list of games no longer available as downloadable games:
- Deadpool
- Spider-Man: Edge of Time
- Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions
- Spider-Man: Friend or Foe
- Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
- X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- X-Men Destiny
- X-Men: The Official Game
We’ve reached out to Marvel to ask if these games will reappear online under a different publisher or a renewed contact with Activision. We’ll update this post with the company’s response.
For now, you’ll have to track down Deadpool in its physical form if you want to get your burrito on with the masked mercenary.
