Super Smash Bros. Wii UAwww Nintendo…since my inception into this world, and the very first game I held in my hands was Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!!, I have been a die-hard Nintendo fan. In order to save the Wii U, we must first get back to the basics — just like we did with the 8-bit Entertainment System. First, we must have a console price drop of at least $50 or a bit more this time around. Second, include an additional gamepad with screen in the box. (Remember you included two controllers with the 8-bit NES, and it worked!) There is still hope for that gamepad.

Third, lure big online game companies (EA, Activision, etc.) by updating your software and dashboard to be more Internet and connectivity friendly, a la Xbox Live or PSN. If you’re worried about predators and children, we’ll make it like other systems do and let there be parental controls that can be implemented and won’t hinder the adults who still play your games and who have grown with you throughout the years. Children aren’t the only ones playing, let alone paying! Make it so that making friends and communicating with others online is not a chore or pulling teeth. Drop the ridiculous friend code and go for registered gamertags! This is not rocket science.

Finally, bundle it with the upcoming Super Smash Bros.game and if you followed the previous three steps before the fourth, I can guarantee you people will be lining up to not just play with a friend or sibling on the couch, but in the exciting world of online competitive gaming, especially with an awesome fighter like Super Smash Bros. I am tired of Nintendo being the laughing stock and the butt of every joke in the gaming industry. Do this and the rest will follow and all will fall in to place.
