If your Xbox One randomly stops showing video, you’re not the only one.

Since Microsoft updated the Xbox One late last week to add a number of new features, a small percentage of users have come across a video issue, according to the Xbox forums. After hitting the Xbox button on the Xbox One’s controller, the console will occasionally stop displaying an image. Instead, gamers only see an ominous black screen.

I’ve experienced this bug myself. I was able to fix it by holding down the power button on the system for 10 seconds and forcing a hard reboot. That is apparently the only way to get the video to come back for now, according to Xbox support:

We’ve reached out to Microsoft to determine when Xbox One owners can expect a permanent fix. We will update this post with any new information.

The February patch added new data-management features to the Xbox One. The update also enables gamers to see how much power their controller batteries have left. This is the first of a two-part set of improvements. Microsoft will release an additional batch of fixes in March that will address the system’s finicky multiplayer and Party-chat system.
