WhatsApp doesn’t just want to take over text messaging.

Days after Facebook’s $19 billion acquisition, WhatsApp chief executive Jan Koum took to the stage at Mobile World Congress (MWC) to announce plans for voice call support. This news certainly makes Facebook’s WhatsApp deal all the more obvious.

According to the New York Times, Koum told the MWC audience that a new call feature will go live during the second quarter of this year — first on Android and iOS, and later on Windows Phone and Blackberry.
