The CEO of VKontakte, Russia's Facebook, is not resigning after all

After announcing his resignation on April 1, VKontakte CEO Pavel Durov now says he’s “not going anywhere” after all, according to a translated statement on the Russian social network.

When Durov first announced his departure, he claimed his control as CEO was dwindling within the company. Despite the timing, it was not an April Fools’ joke; VKontakte confirmed the news a day later.

Today’s news follows a confusing series of events for VKontakte’s Durov, including a run from the police and a reported conspiracy involving the Kremlin.

Durov sold off his 12 percent stake in the company back in January 2014. Durov is also the owner of Digital Fortress, the creator of privacy-centric messaging app Telegram.
