You can go to the Microsoft Games Store right now and purchase The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for the Xbox One. This is notable because, until this morning, no one even knew whether Microsoft’s latest home system would actually end up getting the action-adventure at all. Earlier this month, Activision confirmed that it was no longer sure about the release of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 for Xbox One, and it went so far as to remove the box for that version from its promotional materials.

“We are working with Microsoft in an effort to release The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game on Xbox One,” an Activision spokesperson said in a statement earlier this month. “Currently, the game will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS, and the PC on May 2, 2014 as previously announced.”

At the time, we reached out to Microsoft and Activision to ask about the cause of the delay, but neither company would explain what was preventing Spidey from slinging his way to Xbox One. Whatever the issue, they were obviously able to work it out. We’ve asked again for an explanation, and we will update this post with any new information.

No other multiplatform games has found itself in this situation on Xbox One — although a handful have had some minor difficulties with their visuals compared to the PS4.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 ties into the events of the film of the same name that hit theaters April 16. Developer Beenox, which produced three previous Spider-Man games, returned for this. It features characters from the film like Electro and the Green Goblin as well as others from the universe of Peter Parker, including Kraven the Hunter and Carnage.
