Education startup Allclasses closed a new $1.5 million round of funding for its online course search platform, the company announced today.
Allclasses wants to make it easier for people to find a roundup of all the classes available online and compare those classes by price, format, quality, and more. The service picks up both online and physical classes. The startup describes itself as sort of a Kayak for classes, which is fitting considering Kayak’s chief architect Bill O’Donnell is one of Allclasses’ adviser.
The startup said it plans to use the new capital to further develop its class searching platform as well as expand the number of local classes it includes. Allclasses, which launched today, said initially it will offer access to 10,000 courses. It will roll out classes organized by category, with a focus on professional and continuing education for now.
The round, Allclasses’ first, saw investments from Floodgate, Great Oaks, Atlas Venture, Designer Fund, Maiden Lane, and others. The startup was founded in 2013 and is based in Boston, Mass.
