Apple is stepping up efforts to protect its iCloud customers.
The hardware and software giant will “soon” start encrypting its customers’ email when it goes from one provider to another, not just when email goes to iCloud, NPR reported yesterday in an update to an article about how technology companies are encrypting data.
This change will impact people with @me.com and @mac.com email addresses, according to NPR.
The move adds on to Apple’s existing encryption procedures, including encrypting “fingertip information” and emails that come from and land on devices running OS X Yosemite.

Apple said last month that it would start encrypting email attachments that go through iPhones and iPads.
Google has gradually added easier encryption of data through its services, too.
