Apparently multitasking on phones sucks even more than multitasking on a desktop.

So Cirrus Insight built a Salesforce + Gmail integration, which means that Salesforce addicts won’t have to tap and highlight text in one app, copy it, double-tap their iPhone’s home button, find the other app they need, tap again, and finally paste.

The company is announcing at VentureBeat’s MobileBeat conference this morning that it is releasing an iPhone app that lets you do just about everything you want on Salesforce from your inbox. That means saving emails to Salesforce, checking for context on people and deals, creating new Salesforce records, editing existing Salesforce records, syncing calendars, setting reminders, logging calls, and tracking emails “everywhere.”

An Android app is coming soon, as is an iOS app optimized for iPad.

“Multitasking on phones is especially difficult, and users told us that a mobile inbox connected to CRM would be a killer app,” COO and co-founder Brandon Bruce said about the app. “Email is the primary communication platform for connecting with customers.”

There are plenty of other email integrations for Salesforce, company representatives I emailed agreed, but none as deep or complete, especially on mobile. YesWare, for instance, offers a mobile app that supports outbound email tracking, but it doesn’t integrate with Salesforce (update: the company told me via email that it actually has an integrated, syncing app in beta testing right now, which it will be releasing “in a few months.”)

Other players, such as Boxer and WorkInbox, lack the ability to integrate with Salesforce as well.

“We’re the only enterprise mobile inbox + Salesforce solution that offers email tracking, creation of many different kinds of Salesforce records, the viewing of contextual Salesforce information, Calendar Sync, and more,” a spokesman said.

According to Cirrus, beta testers reported 25 percent increased mobile productivity. Perhaps more importantly for company executives who are trying to implement the solution through the entire sales force, using the app also boosted Salesforce adoption “by up to 5X.”

That’s a big deal, because a CRM is great, but only as long as you feed it.

The app works for Gmail, but also Exchange, Lotus Notes, Yahoo, or any other IMAP or ActiveSync users.
