Influential German designer Erik Spiekermann just noticed something interesting about Airbnb’s new logo.

In some ways, this curvy letter A resembles the A logo of an 11-year-old IT automation company called Automation Anywhere.

Spiekermann tweeted about his observation and incited plenty of commentary.

Airbnb and Automation Anywhere sent this joint statement to VentureBeat:

In early 2014 both Airbnb and Automation Anywhere began use of new logos that, by coincidence, have similar designs. Airbnb and Automation Anywhere are working cooperatively to address this issue, and Automation Anywhere is in the process of transitioning to a new logo design that is not similar to the Airbnb logo.

The company unveiled a whole new look today, reflecting its plans to grow and add services.
