One of the very first live TV sites, Justin.tv, has been shuttered.
Justin.tv was officially renamed Twitch Interactive Inc. in February of 2014. A few months later, as VentureBeat confirmed on July 24, Twitch was acquired by Google for $1 billion.
From the Justin.tv website: “Unfortunately that means we need to shut down Justin.tv. We thank all of our broadcasters and viewers for 7 years of live video memories.”
“We are immensely proud of Justin.tv’s legacy. Not only is it the birthplace of Twitch, but it was the pioneer of live video on the Internet,” said Kevin Lin, COO, Twitch.
