HTC today expanded its “HTC One M8” smartphone line beyond Android with the launch of “HTC One M8 for Windows,” a release that packs Microsoft’s third-place mobile OS into HTC’s flagship device.
The device, which ships with Windows Phone 8.1 and costs $99, is set to launch online at noon ET today, CNET reports. It won’t hit retail stores until tomorrow, and it’s available exclusively on Verizon.
As with the original HTC One M8, the HTC One M8 for Windows features a 5-inch 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3GHz processor, 32GB of storage, HTC’s “BoomSound speakers,” HTC’s “Duo Camera,” and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera.
According to HTC America president Jason Mackenzie, today’s release represents “the first time a smartphone manufacturer has launched an iconic device in multiple operating system without making any compromises.”
