Google, a tech giant that’s been growing its public cloud capabilities, said today that it’s acquired hot real-time backend database startup, Firebase. The startup’s technology will be incorporated into Google’s cloud.
“If you’re already a Firebase developer, you’ll start seeing improvements right away, and if you’re a Google Cloud Platform customer, you’ll find it even easier to create great mobile and web apps,” Google director of product management Greg DeMichillie wrote in a blog post this morning.
Google is bringing on board the entire Firebase team, DeMichillie noted.
“Google’s backing allows us to dramatically scale Firebase,” co-founder and chief executive James Tamplin wrote in a blog post.
Earlier this year Firebase added a way to host static elements of applications.
Investors include Flybridge Capital Partners and Union Square Ventures.
