Not long after Creative Assembly made the February 17th release day announcement for Total War Attila, the game went up for sale on Steam for $44.99. As a pre-order incentive, you’ll get a free Viking-themed DLC pack which will sell for $7.99 by itself after the launch date.

Unlike the many expansion packs we’ve seen for Total War: Rome II, Total War: Attila is a standalone game. For fans of the Total War series, it’s very similar to the relationship between Napoleon: Total War and Empire Total War – a slight revamp of the game and a slightly different time period.
Total War: Attila is a rather hefty download, requiring about 35GB of hard drive space – very similar to Total War: Rome II. The time period begins in 395 AD with the death of Theodosius, the last Roman Emperor to rule both the East and West.
Pre-ordering also gets you a free copy of the “Viking Forefathers Culture Pack”. Like other Rome II Culture packs, this one grants you three more playable factions: The Danes, The Jutes, and the Geats.
After Total War: Attila‘s debut in February, the pack will go on sale for $7.99. The DLC pack releases the same day as Total War: Attila, so there will be no delay in unlocking its extra content.
