Twitter today updated its Vine app with the ability to favorite accounts. You can download the new version now directly from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
Favoriting other Vine users will give you a notification whenever they post a Vine. This includes both a push notification to your device and an update in your activity feed.
To favorite an account, navigate to their profile page and tap the star in the top-right corner. If you follow a large number of Vine users, this will ensure you don’t miss new videos from your favorite Viners.

You can view all your favorites in the Settings of the app. You can also update your notifications there in case you start getting too many.
This is a great addition for hardcore Vine users. Much like on Twitter, we’ve seen complaints about being inundated with content and missing out on the best clips.
In fact, Twitter implies this addition was made in response to user suggestions: “As always, these changes happen with your help and feedback. Reach out to us anytime at @vinehelp — we’re listening.”
The app’s changelog says that users “may also notice some performance enhancements that make Vine, well … perform better.” Twitter didn’t share what exactly it changed or how much of a boost you can expect.
It’s worth noting that this update is only available to Android and iOS users. The Windows Phone version, released back in November 2013, has not been updated since December 2013.
That said, when the Windows Phone app launched, it had a unique feature: being able to pin your favorite Vine accounts to your homescreen. As a result, Windows Phone users have had a way to avoid missing Vines from their favorite users.
Nevertheless, it’s unfortunate to see Twitter disregard the platform: 11 months without an update is a sad state of affairs.
