Ubisoft is busy trying to fix Assassin’s Creed: Unity, which has issues with bugs and a low framerate, but now the publisher making more overt gestures to apologize to fans.
The company announced today that it’s giving away the first downloadable-content pack for Unity, called Dead Kings, for free to everyone. Ubisoft originally intended to sell Dead Kings as a standalone add-on and as part of the content that comes with Unity’s season pass. Now, instead, anyone who already purchased the season pass get a free Ubisoft game (from a selection of six) as refund.
Earlier today, retailers like GameStop, Best Buy, and Steam stopped selling the Unity season pass. Ubisoft confirmed to GamesBeat that it has discontinued the sale of the season pass.
Anyone who already owns the DLC bundle can choose from one of the following Ubisoft games for free:
- The Crew
- Far Cry 4
- Watch Dogs
- Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
- Rayman Legends
- Just Dance 2015
Ubisoft also promises that people who own the season pass will continue to “have access to a variety of additional content.” That includes the 2D Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China platformer.
As for Unity itself, Ubisoft is releasing the third patch for it today. It addresses a number of stability and performance issues, but the publisher says that it’s not done fixing it.
“We are committed to delivering further fixes for other issues you’ve raised,” Ubisoft Montreal head Yannis Mallat wrote in a blog post. “In the meantime, please keep your feedback coming — it has been both humbling and incredibly helpful as we continue working hard to improve the overall quality of the game. We are hopeful that with these forthcoming updates, everyone will be able to truly enjoy their Assassin’s Creed Unity experience.”
