Today Google-owned Nest announced 15 new partners for its six-month-old “Works with Nest” program.
Nest’s partner program originally launched with just five partnerships — most notably a tie-in with the Pebble smartwatch. Now, with support from major players like LG and Whirlpool, it’s becoming clear how essential this program is for Nest’s expansion beyond thermostats.
Most of these integrations, which we’ll list in a moment, tie back into temperature settings and Nest’s “Protect” smoke and carbon monoxide detector, but a few turn the Nest into something close to a smart home hub. LG’s integration, for example, detects if you’ve “accidentally left the oven on,” Nest said in a statement.
On to the details: Starting today, Nest says it works with the August Smart Lock, Automatic car adapters, Insteon, LG appliances, the Ooma Telo, Phillips Hue lights, the Kevo Smart Lock, and the Withings Aura Sleep System.
