Microsoft today updated its Yammer mobile apps for Android and iOS with interactive notifications, better sharing, and specific features for both platforms. You can download the new mobile version of Microsoft’s freemium enterprise social networking service now directly from Google Play and Apple’s App Store.
On Android, Yammer has gained support for Android Wear. You can now read and like team messages directly from your wrist, and even reply using voice commands.
To get Yammer on your smartwatch, you’ll need to first install the app on your Android phone. Yammer will be “seamlessly” extended to your Android Wear device. For more information, check out the quick start guide.

Next up, Yammer has gained Handoff support on iOS and OS X. This means you can be using Yammer on your Mac and switch to your iPhone or iPad with one swipe. You can then go back to your Mac with a single click.
The transition ensures you can keep using Yammer right where you left off:
Platform-specific features aside, Microsoft has also implemented interactive notifications, which let Android and iOS users like posts directly from the redesigned Yammer notifications. Notifications also now roll up by threads, feature the Yammer icon, and even flash the LED on your Android phone.
Last but not least, sharing has been improved: “Multiply your impact wherever you are by sharing links, photos and more into a Yammer group directly from Safari, Chrome and other apps.” In other words, Yammer makes sure you can spam your work colleagues regardless of what device you’re using.
Microsoft says it plans to accelerate “the pace of innovation on our Yammer mobile apps.” That said, Windows users will notice that their apps haven’t been updated today.
This is likely because Microsoft is waiting on releasing a universal Windows app that works across computers, tablets, smartphones, and other devices. In fact, a spokesperson told VentureBeat that the company will “have more to share on plans for Yammer on Windows 10 soon.”
