While developer Hello Games plugs away at its sci-fi space epic No Man’s Sky, it’s taking some time to throw one of its older releases to Android gamers.
Hello revealed today that it is releasing the motorcycle platformer Joe Danger on Android. It goes live in the Google Play, Amazon Appstore, and Ouya Discover markets soon, according to the team. The bright and colorful game puts you in control of stuntman Joe Danger, who must race and jump through crazy levels. This is a port of the iOS release, which features 80 levels, leaderboards, and tons of collectibles. Joe Danger is the first time Hello Games has released an app for Android, and the studio notes it has now released Joe Danger on eight different platforms.
Hello didn’t provide an exact release date or price, but you can probably expect to pay around $2 to $3 for it (based on the iOS App Store listing) in the near future.
For this port, Hello worked with developer Sockmonkey Studios, which got Joe Danger up and running on Android. Sockmonkey also included support for Android controllers. That means you can use Nvidia Shield or something like a Moga Bluetooth gamepad to get full physical controls for motorbiking game.
Joe Danger was the debut release for Hello Games in 2010. The studio worked on ports and sequels for it before starting work on something entirely new. Today, Hello is deep into the development cycle of No Man’s Sky, which is an open-world space exploration game that simulates an entire galaxy worth of planets, stars, and creatures. That is due out for PS4 sometime later this year as well as other platforms at a later date.
