Watch here as SpaceX launches second rocket that will attempt landing on floating platform (updated)

Updated Feb 11 at 3 a.m. PT: The launch has been rescheduled (again) for today at 3:03 p.m. PT (6:03 p.m. on the East Coast). Live coverage on the SpaceX live-streaming site should begin again at 2:45 p.m. PT.

After postponing a scheduled launch for a third time yesterday, Elon Musk’s SpaceX hopes to get another shot today at sending its Falcon 9 into space.

The launch was scrapped yesterday due to a problem with high winds. The previous two days the launch was cancelled due to problems with the Air Force’s Eastern Range radar. If the launch doesn’t happen today, it’s unclear when SpaceX will get another window.

When it does eventually launch, the Falcon 9 will carry a DSCOVR satellite into orbit on behalf of the Deep Space Climate Observatory for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The satellite will gather information about the Earth’s atmosphere and climate-related information.

But what will be of more immediate drama will be the attempt to land the rocket on a platform on a small platform off the coast of Florida.

SpaceX tried this on January 10, and came close, only to watch the rocket explode on impact.

The launch is currently scheduled for 6:03 p.m. on the East Coast (3:03 p.m. PT).
