Sony and publisher Capcom are working together to ensure Street Fighter V has a successful launch, and that means a testing phase to check how it runs online.

Capcom is planning to run an online beta for its next fighting game for both the PS4 and PC versions. The company will use the data it gets from these tests to improve the game. To get into the beta, you’ll need to preorder Street Fighter V — and that will automatically enroll you in the beta program.

In addition to the beta, Capcom also revealed that it is adding classic fighter Charlie Nash to Street Fighter V’s roster.

Nash was Guile’s best friend, and he was the reason Guile was after M. Bison in Street Fighter II. He finally made an appearance as a playable character in the Street Fighter Alpha series.

Street Fighter V was one of Sony’s major announcements at its PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas at the end of last year. The company revealed it had made an agreement with Capcom that will see the game released only on PC and PlayStation 4. That means Microsoft will not have one of the most popular fighting games in the world on its system.

This is also another example of how platform holders like Sony and Microsoft are working to differentiate their platforms by providing support to third-party publishers. Sony is working with Capcom on producing the fighter as well as promoting it.
