Today Getable, a startup delivering on-demand construction equipment (yes, construction equipment), announced a $5 million round led by The Social+Capital Partnership.

As Uber grows, so does the “Uber for X” industry. Getable, with its focus on heavy-duty equipment, falls into a somewhat interesting corner of this category — it’s highly practical, yet very niche.

According to Getable’s site,  the San Francisco-based company “was started with the belief that paying for access to equipment is more cost effective than equipment ownership. The company first began by building an equipment rental ERP and ordering platform which was eventually sold off to focus solely on the specific needs of heavy equipment contractors.”

With fresh capital in hand, Getable is now rolling out its services nationwide in the U.S. The company previously only operated in California.
