A new report claims Apple has managed to significantly improve the battery life of its soon-to-launch smartwatch.
The Apple Watch was previously rumored to withstand just 2.5 hours of heavy use, 3.5 hours of “standard” use, and less than three days of low-power use. Now, 9to5 Mac’s sources say the gadget “should be able to handle 5 hours of heavy application usage, and [it] won’t run out of battery during a typical day of mixed active and passive use.” 9to5’s Mark Gurman, however, cautions that the device requires charging daily — a downside when compared to Pebble‘s multiday battery.
Apple apparently limited certain features of the watch to offer better battery life. For more details on these reported compromises, head here.
It’s worth reiterating that none of the details above have been verified by VentureBeat or Apple — they won’t be official until Apple’s Watch unveiling this Monday. Stay tuned.
