Things are looking rough for Konami, at least if you’re a fan of its console franchises. Metal Gear director Hideo Kojima is probably leaving the company after the next Metal Gear, and franchises like Silent Hill and Castlevania are way past their prime as the company moves to mobile and other ventures.

Still, at least we can have a good laugh at the studio’s expense thanks to this hilarious parody from YouTube Let’s Player and artist Void Burger.

Void Burger has been making YouTube videos since 2009, with many of them focusing on her favorite series, Silent Hill, which is Konami publishes and has also been declining in popularity.

“In that franchise, they’ve been trying to broaden the demographics for years but not knowing how to do it — more combat, less combat, linear, open-world — they just couldn’t make anything stick and attract new fans to the series,” Void Burger told GamesBeat.

Kojima was supposed to help reboot Silent Hill after he finished Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, but the future of that project is now in doubt. Truthfully, the future of Konami in console gaming in general is in doubt, for reasons Void Burger explains well.

“Konami may even just be gradually losing interest in their console game stuff,” she told GamesBeat, “since mobile and pachislot games makes a lot more money and cost a lot less to produce as compared to console games — which they keep screwing up anyway!”

Void Burger originally made a tweet (below) with a similar joke before creating a full video. She was inspired by another tweet from a friend, Tortoiseontour, which we won’t embed directly since it has about five more expletives than we usually post.

It’s definitely a tough time for Konami. Maybe it’s not so bad that gamers should give them money instead of crying, orphaned puppies, but it’s still pretty bad. At least we all got a good laugh, although Void Burger actually spilled a few tears. “I cried a few times while editing it because I had to study the source material a bunch to get the editing style down,” she told GamesBeat “So, I had to watch all those super sad puppies and kitties over and over, and I had to compose myself every 20 minutes or so over it.”
