IFTTT set to launch a pair of new Apple Watch apps — Do Button and Do Note

Task automation service IFTTT announced it’s developed two new simple apps for the Apple Watch. The new apps, IFTTT said, will be available tomorrow.

The Do Button and Do Note apps let users run their IFTTT Recipes (directions for simple interactions between apps, services or devices) with a tap on the Watch.

Watch owners, for example, could use the Do Button to turn their Nest thermostat to 70 degrees with a tap on the Watch, or to switch lights on or off.

 

With Do Note, they can voice-dictate requests to the Watch app, then tap a button to run the command. For example, they might create a note in Evernote or an event in Google Calendar.

IFTTT offers two main types of Recipes: Do and IF.

“Do” Recipes let users quickly create a personalized Button, Camera, and Notepad.

“IF” Recipes run automatically in the background and create powerful connections with an “if this, then that” statement (from which the company drew its name). Such a statement might look like this: “If I post a picture to Instagram, then save it to my Box account also.”
